Review:
This sequel to The 7th Woman ,a lovely mystery, that I shared with your last year. While this book is the 2nd book in the series (French title of Dent pour Dent (Tooth for Tooth)to be translated, there is actually already a 3rd book in the series (Déjeuner sous l’herbe (Have Lunch Under the Grass)), and a fourth about to be published! Once again Molay knocks one out of the ballpark, with a tight mystery that gives us more about Nico's life and the bureaucracy of French policing and government. Nico and his team run with the traditional 'closed room" mystery, ala Agatha Christie, and find the clues they need to unravel a VERY tangled web of deceit, that was started out of a love for a child. The end will leave you wanting more Nico tales! Anne, as always, does a great job in translating French idioms and processes into understandable English, while keeping the author's pacing intact. I highly recommend checking out this translation!
About the Author:
After the huge success The 7th Woman met in France, Frédérique Molay left her career in politics to dedicate her life to writing and raising her three children. She now has five books to her name, including three in the Chief Inspector Nico Sirsky series.
About the Translator,
Anne Trager has lived in France for over 26 years, working in translation, publishing and communications. In 2011, she woke up one morning and said, “I just can’t stand it anymore. There are way too many good books being written in France not reaching a broader audience.” That’s when she founded Le French Book to translate some of those books into English.
